Morrocanoil

Hello everyone! For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you would have seen that Moroccanoil is my go-to hair brand, so I thought I would do a little review on why I love their products so much. I surf quite a lot and I found that my hair was getting very dry and my original products were not helping, so I started off using the Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner. It is quite an expensive brand so I thought I would test the basics to see if it’s worth the price tag. It definitely is! My hair felt much softer and smoother within a few washes, while it also had a noticeable shine and the dryness I was experiencing was starting to disappear. It left my hair feeling moisturised and easily manageable.

After the shampoo and conditioner, I started using the Heat Styling Protection Spray. When I first used the spray I put on too much, which resulted in a weird, oily residue which I didn’t like at all. I found that spraying the product onto a brush and then combing it through the hair left a much nicer feel, so I now just spray it onto my brush and that works really well. It also gives the hair a really smooth finish, with a bit of a shine as well. I love how all the products I have tried give my hair an amazing shine. I received a sample of the Treatment Oil and it’s one of my favourite products from the brand, it makes my hair super super soft and shiny, working really nicely with the shampoo and conditioner. I use it as a finishing product after I blow dry and straighten my hair.

I recently went to the launch of the Moroccanoil Smooth Range, and I have been trying out the shampoo and conditioner. I can’t say that it has made more of a difference to my hair than the Hydrating products, so I let my mom try it because she has frizzy hair and she could definitely see an improvement in her hair – it is smoother, shinier and more manageable. She found that the Hydrating shampoo and conditioner left her hair with an oily residue, however the Smooth range doesn’t. The last product that I use is the Weightless Hydrating Mask, I don’t use it often, maybe once a month. It really works into the hair, leaving my hair with a great texture and a high shine. It is really important to find the products that suit your hair type so do you research if you’re thinking of trying it.

If you’re looking to change up your hair routine, definitely opt for Moroccanoil

Monochrome

I can never have too much black in my wardrobe, ever. It’s my go to colour, whether I am in dire need of an outfit or just because it’s Tuesday. This outfit is pretty much something I would wear to work, it’s comfortable and easily put together. Then again, I wear sneakers to the office as well, so it just depends on my mood.

I have a serious love affair with heels, they instantly elevate any look and give you that, ‘I have arrived’ type story, if you know what I mean. Over the past two years I have started getting into pencil skirts, I never wore them when I was younger but I have warmed up to them considerably. I have come to realize that pencil skirts are a must for any woman, they cinch the waist and hug the thighs, which leaves a winning combination. I bought this Zara jersey while I was in New York last year with my sister (suffering from major nostalgia right now because I was there over July), I loved the monochrome finish and leatherette elbow panels. I wear a lot of knits in winter, because really, what is winter without knits… Like I have said before, adding a chunky necklace is a must this season, and I love this blue number from Mr Price. I have a bit of an obsession with stacking right now. I found these stack rings at Lovisa, they are delicate and feminine, which I love.

Jumpsuit

Looking back, I never thought I would ever wear jumpsuits, having liked them on other people, I just never found one that did me any justice, that is, until this amazing G-Star Raw design. I have always been a big fan of G-Star, their superior level of craftsmanship in combination with their street-style-inspired designs, has made them one of my favourite denim brands.

The colour treatment on this particular jumpsuit, coupled with its semi-fitted shape and edgy finishes, instantly caught my attention. It is perfect for all year round, I just add layers to it during winter. Versatility is always a must when it comes to certain pieces, and being able to wear something all year round makes me a happy person. Oversized coats are a serious winner this winter, and if I could wear one with everything, I would. The button detailing on this coat is just the ultimate, and even though it is oversized, it remains flattering enough.

Country Road is one of those wonder brands for me, no matter when I go there, there is always something I am obsessed with. These black boots are pretty much everything. The leather is insanely soft and they are exactly what my wardrobe needed.

Hues of Blue

Having always lived in Cape Town, standing seaside instantly uplifts my mood. For me, it comes down to the freedom of rolling waves crashing down and the smell of fresh air, together, they make me feel wonderfully content. I can stare at the consistency of waves for ages, getting hopelessly lost in my thoughts.

I was in a bit of a mood throughout this particular day, albeit to say, I have no idea why or even what kind really, just feeling a bit of the winter blues I guess… It goes like that sometimes, I think everyone gets into a mood every now and again, not the kind that’s anything to write home about, just the kind that puts you into a funk.

Needing a bit of sun and sea to illuminate my mood, I turned to Kalk Bay. Its welcoming atmosphere and eclectic mood made for the perfect pick-me-up. I’m out of words for today, but I will say that adding a chunky necklace to your winter wardrobe is a must. It will give you a bit of sparkle, without too much effort from your side.

Happy Wednesday everyone, have a beautiful day!

Contemplation

June is a month of contemplation for me; enough has happened during the year to reflect upon, while there is still enough time to redirect and improve. I have always been an advocate for looking back in order to improve going forward, but it has turned me into a serious planner, which isn’t always a good thing. Spontaneity is by no means my strongest point, which I am slowly trying to change.

This outfit features a few of my favourite things. I bought this top from Sissy Boy years ago; I fell in love with the pattern detail and the ruffles on the neck. Suffering from ‘round face syndrome’, I usually steer clear of things too close around my neck, but this top still won my heart. This Woolworths blazer was another must when I saw it; the zip detailing and triangular hemline instantly caught my attention. You can never go wrong with a blazer, they are an absolute staple, no mater the season. Simple black jeans are pretty much my go to; they suit everything and everyone, while they are super easy to style up or down.

Happy Tuesday! Enjoy the short week ahead x x
